Why Adrix and Nev, Twincasters?

Adrix and Nev are not only efficient at 4 mana but they come with ward 2 and token doubling, this ward will make it so early game removal spells can not harm Adrix and Nev. Even with just one to two turns of Adrix and Nev being out and the game can get out of hand so quickly! Adrix and Nev are nuts in the command zone and even crazy in decks where they are in the 99!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! For explanations of the combos please refer to the “Main Win Conditions” section below!

Creatures:

We are a creature deck, and i’m sure this may come as a surprise but we have a ton of ways to create a crazy amount of tokens! But before we get there we have to talk about our early game which mostly consists of creature mana dorks like Elvish Mystic and Birds of Paradise which are just strong ways to get some extra mana early! Chrome Host Seedshark is a great way to come down early and punish the spellcasters at the table! Jaheira, Friend of the Forest is a great way to turn some of our extra tokens into mana. Master of Waves is one of my favorite token producers in the deck and we can often make a ton of tokens even before the doubling!

And of course we have our finishers the game gets scary when these come down! Craterhoof Behemoth is a great card and will almost always end the game when he drops into the field. Some other finishers are Avenger of Zendikar, Hornet Queen and Gruff Triplets all of which are really strong ways to make a ton of tokens, these cards are strong and efficient even when we dont have Adrix and Nev and game-changing when they are on the field!

Planeswalkers:

There is a commonality between all of our Planeswalkers Garruk, Primal Hunter creates beasts, Nissa, Ascended Animist creates huge horrors and Mordenkainen creates a pretty sweet dog! While all of these tokens are the main reason that they are in the deck they all add value Garruk is a great card draw engine as well as Mordenkainen and Nissa is artifact removal or a great way to buff our creatures!

Instants:

Arachnogenesis has always been a pretty decent card but it becomes absolutely ridiculous with Adrix and Nev the token advantage can get out of hand especially if our opponent went all in! Second Harvest is a crazy token generator as well as just makes things get out of hand even quicker! We are a blue deck so you know we had to include Counterspell and Swan Song to stop the unfairness our opponents are trying to do! We also hate artifacts and enchantments so Nature's Claim and Krosan Grip absolutely had to be in the deck!

Sorceries:

Cultivate and Kodama's Reach headline our sorcery package and are just classic ramp spells that are pretty much never bad, beyond that we have a ton of token copying / production like Awaken the Woods and Ezuri's Predation which are both super powerful token generators even without Adrix and Nev out. Natural Order is a really crazy card that is pretty much just a Craterhoof Behemoth tutor and when this bad boy comes out we are pretty much going to end the game!

Artifacts:

We of course have some mana rocks like Sol Ring and Arcane Signet but for unconventional mana producers we also have Bootleggers' Stash which basically makes all of our lands tap for 3 if we have Adrix and Nev out! The Great Henge is a great mana rock that we can cast pretty easily and get some buffs and card draw! Helm of the Host is a crazy broken artifact especially when we have cards that nullify the legendary rule!

Enchantments:

While we are a token deck, so Doubling Season, Parallel Lives and Primal Vigor which are all crazy cards that are not only all combo pieces but get ridiculous especially with Adrix and Nev on the field! Storm of Saruman is a super sweet newer card that is just another strong token generator or allowing us to copying some sweet spells! Mana Reflection and Growing Rites of Itlimoc // Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun are all really strong mana generators and make our ramp and gameplan even easier!

Land Base:

Not too much to say about our land base, pretty much what you would expect from a Simic deck, Simic duals like Rejuvenating Springs, fetches like Misty Rainforest and sweet pieces of mana fixing like Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth. We aren’t doing anything particularly fancy with our land base and we keep it simple so we can ramp effectively and make a ton of tokens!

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Combat is very easy due to token production
  • Easy to win through combat
  • Adrix and Nev are hard to remove and snowball quickly

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Weak to creature hate
  • Deck is much weaker without Adrix and Nev
  • Weak to combo strategies

Main Win Conditions:

Our main win condition is either combo or combat! On the combat side we can utilize cards like Craterhoof Behemoth to go over the top of our opponents and smash through! Adrix and Nev are combo machines so there are an absolute ton in the deck as well as a bunch of different ways to combo off, below are all the combos explained!
