The Cyber-Controller Infinite Mana Brewed CEDH

“I waited for you…”

Art:The Cyber-Controller by Pavel Kolomeyets

The Cyber-Controller is a little bit of a surprise for a CEDH commander but I think it works super well for the format, dont be surprised if some heads turn when you put this down on the table! The Cyber-Controller is a card that when first spoiled I thought would be absolutely perfect for CEDH. Whether we are attempting to mill opponents key combos / cards or exiling each opponents entire library! This deck is built as a control shell with a ton of counterspells and tutors and draw, while we can often have an super early win we typically win between turn 3-4 with protection with our counterspell package. Without further adieu lets get it!

Why The Cyber-Controller?

The Cyber-Controller is a really cool commander who we are not built around but more of tooled for, we are built to mill each opponents library, whether we cast X for a little in an attempt to millkey combo pieces or cast X en masse to mill our opponents entire library. The Cyber-Controller is a really strong card in grindy games since we can make a ton of creatures, perfect against the Winota, Joiner of Forces decks!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! As well as highlighting some of my favorite cards in the deck! The infinite combos and loops in the deck are listed below in the “Main Win Conditions” Section.

Creatures:

We have a pretty limited creature package but we have a lot of strength here! Dauthi Voidwalker which is an absolute bomb against any sort of graveyard strategy! Walking Ballista is another really strong outlet for our infinite colorless mana! Orcish Bowmasters is a really strong card against a ton of decks and is an absolute auto-include for this deck, but this card is likely meta dependent, in my environment this card is strong! Dark Confidant and Faerie Mastermind are both great ways to get extra cards! Spellseeker is a really great way to grab Tainted Pact and Demonic Consultation.

Planeswalkers:

We only have two Planeswalkers but both of them are extremely effective, Narset, Parter of Veils is really strong against storm or really any deck that wants to draw a bunch! Narset is also crazy when combined with cards like Timetwister leaving us with 7 and our opponents with 1! Tezzeret the Seeker is a really cool card that we can ramp into pretty early and and can untap artifacts like Mana Crypt and Mana Vault for free! Tezzeret is also really cool since we can grab an isochron scepter or a combo piece straight from the deck!

Instants:

We are in Dimir so of course we have a ton of counterspells with my top ones being Mental Misstep, Force of Will and Mana Drain all of which are really strong spells! Stern Scolding is a really strong card that can target so many of the strong creatures in the format! Mindbreak Trap is a really cool way to stop an opponent from storming off, this card is absolutely perfect for decks that are faster than us since we can stop all of their shenanigans for free! We of course have some creature removal as well with sweet cards like Slaughter Pact and Dismember are both really strong ways to take out commanders!

Sorceries:

Our sorcery package is much smaller than our instants and primarily focuses on tutoring, whether we are assembling combos or tutoring for a key counter / removal these cards are strong! Imperial Seal and Demonic Tutor are both extremely effective cards that we can use to assemble a combo super early! Ponder, Preordain and Timetwister are all really strong sources of card draw, which is perfect when looking for combo pieces! Gitaxian Probe is strong early since we can draw a card and see what one of our opponents is working with!

Artifacts:

Our artifact package is very much intertwined with our infinite mana / combos and is also a great way to ramp an absolute ton with cards like Mana Crypt and Mana Vault and Sol Ring all of which are extremely strong mana sources. These are just the tip of the iceberg if you will and we have a ton more ways to get a ton of mana and be ready for anything! Wishclaw Talisman is a great card when we simply need one more piece to go off! The One Ring is as broken as everyone has been saying so we absolutely had to include it, this card is an absolute machine!

Enchantments:

Power Artifact is pretty much entirely a combo piece for the deck but can be used if needed to reduce costs on artifacts abilities! Mystic Remora and Rhystic Study are CEDH staples and for a good reason these cards are drawing machines and are extremely strong. Necropotence is another really strong card which we can use to mass “draw” and assemble our combos quickly!

Land Base:

Our land base is focused primarily on speed, so we of course have the original duals like Underground Sea as well as the fetchlands to get us there quickly as well! Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors are both strong lands and great ways to ramp! Other than that our land-base is filled mostly with lands that allow us to establish our colors and cast our spells and assemble our combos as soon as possible!

Strengths of the Deck:

  • The Cyber-Controller provides an outlet for our infinite mana
  • Ton of counterspells
  • Ton of fast mana

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Average a turn 3-4 kill can be weaker depending on your meta this may be to slow
  • You are already close to winning the game when The Cyber-Controller is cast
  • Weak to artifact hate / stax

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

We are a CEDH deck so a lot of the combos in our deck are expected, but since we have The Cyber-Controller that is an additional outlet for our infinite mana and there is nothing wrong with exiling our opponents entire library! Below are all of the combos in the deck explained! Walking Ballista is another great outlet for our infinite mana as well!

Conclusion:

The Cyber-Controller is a card that might get you some confused looks at the CEDH table, but it plays much like a typical CEDH deck in Dimir with almost all of the same combos, we just have an extra outlet in the command zone for our infinite mana. This is a really fun control deck with a ton of combo potential and ways to protect / stop ourselves and our opponents. Thanks for reading to the end and for all of the support!
