With spoilers coming out for the Lord of the Rings set we decided to create our Top 10 cards for commander from what’s been released.
This list will be ever changing as more will be spoiled but this is what we have so far! Lets get into it!

10. Samwise the Stouthearted
Samwise’s ability to return any permanent to your hand combined with flash makes it really good for rebuilding your board state or grabbing a combo piece, With the added affect of the ring tempting you that has no downside I can really seeing this card being played in most decks with white.

9. Bilbo, Retired Burglar
Bilbo being Izzet with the ability to generate treasure tokens makes it useful for decks with high CMC spells. Along with him causing the ring to tempt you makes him a great target to become the ring bearer since the first ability makes him unblockable by everything except other 1 power creatures.
8. Lobelia Sackville-Baggins
Being able to Exile a potentially dead card in your graveyard to generate treasure tokens is great for rebuilding or continuing your board state.

7. Sam, Loyal Attendant
Sam’s ability to create food tokens for essentially no cost is a great for generating large amounts of tokens another card from this set that is great when paired with Parallel Lives, Anointed Procession or Academy Manufactor
6. Delighted Halfling
is a 1/2 mana dork that taps for colorless unless its for a legendary creature which makes it a great dork for Jodah, the Unifier
& Sisay, Weatherlight Captain

5. Sauron, The necromancer
Sauron’s ability is great for retaining abilities while being able maintain a decent board state of 3/3 attackers with menace its great for decks that slam creatures with strong static or ETB abilities

4. Frodo, Sauron’s Bane
Frodo Being a one cost creature that the next turn can become a 2/3 with lifelink is a great opener. Combined with the many cards that cause the ring to tempt you and a equipment that can make unblockable like a Whispersilk Cloak
is a cheeky way to sneak a win

1. Aragorn and Arwen, Wed
Aragorn and Arwen, Wed is Honestly great for either Tribal Humans or Elves. I think the card benefits both types of decks with everything it does placing counters, gaining life and with vigilance a solid blocker. Aragorn fits nicely into a selesyna space that has a lot of great options for commanders whether Aragorn is in the 99 or in the command zone, he will have an impact on the game.
