Welcome to another Installment of Brewed EDH:
Todays Featured Commander is:
Goreclaw is an awesome Mono Green Commander who heavily benefits decks who are trying to cast huge creatures. We took this idea and applied to some of magics biggest baddest Eldrazi, with a few colorless bombs like Blightsteel Colossus
and Wurmcoil Engine
. This is a great deck for any green mage that loves big mana and big creatures and likes ending games through the combat step!

Why Goreclaw,Terror of Qal Sima?
The main reason we chose Goreclaw is that he reduces the cost of any creature with power 4 or greater which in our deck is an absolute ton of them. Additionally when Goreclaw attacks with others he can give all of our big creature +1/+1 and trample combine this with annihilator and its a crazy combo. The last reason for Goreclaw is that he is green and allows us to play key eldrazi like World Breaker
and cards like Ancient Stirrings
and well as spells like Triumph of the Hordes
and Overwhelming Stampede
to end games even quicker!
Deck Overview:
We are a big mana deck so of course we have a ton of ways to give us some big mana, some of our mana rocks include Sol Ring
, Thran Dynamo
, Sisay's Ring
just to name a few. For our mana base we are running lands to reduce Eldrazi cost like Eldrazi Temple
and Eye of Ugin
. Additionally since we are a big mana deck we are running the Tron package with cards like Expedition Map
, Sylvan Scrying
and Crop Rotation
to get our trons lands. Tron is by no means necessary for this deck to perform well but doesn’t hurt in games where you can assemble it! For the basics we are running a half and half wastes / forest because some Eldrazi require the colorless from wastes and some need green. We are also utilizing Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth
to make all of our lands forest which can help a ton with fixing. For our big creatures our topend of the curve is Emrakul, the Promised End
, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
and Blightsteel Colossus landing any of these cards on the field can swing the momentum of the game a ton and help to close it out. Some of our Non-Eldrazi creatures include Nylea, Keen-Eyed
which is another way to reduce the cost of creatures in our deck as well as filter in the late game with her ability. We also utilize Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus
to have some unfair combat steps and swing for a ton! Monster Manual // Zoological Study is also a great way to cheat our creatures into play early even though we wont get the cast triggers a lot of the time it is worth it to just put down a Zopandrel or Kozilek early and start changing the game! While our top end Eldrazi our the big highlights we also have some smaller guys that help out a ton! Cards like Warden of Geometries
and Brood Monitor
can be cast quite early and help us cast a bunch of our larger creatures. As far as gameplan goes the main goal in the early turns is to commit as much mana as possible to the board so we can cast Goreclaw and our big Eldrazi as soon as we possibly can. Our ramp package is nothing atypical for a green edh deck featuring classics like Kodama's Reach
and Cultivate
. We are a green deck so we don’t have a ton of interaction / protection but we do have some. For destruction we have Krosan Grip
. All Is Dust
and Scour from Existence
. For protection we have Not of This World
and Heroic Intervention
. Overall I think that we have a well rounded deck with a ton of ways to cheat and if needed easily hard cast all of our huge permanents and start ending opponents careers!
Strengths of the Deck:
- Easy to cast huge creatures early
- A lot of ways to draw cards
- Can end the game in just a few combats
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Weak to creature hate
- Some but not a ton of interaction with opponents
- No real way for us to stop instant speed interaction

Main Win Conditions:
Our main win conditions are casting Card not found or Card not found with our huge Eldrazi on the board. This deck does not play any real infinite combos or loops.
Conclusion:
In conclusion Goreclaw is a really fun Green stompy style deck featuring Eldrazi. I think the deck offers a lot more than typical colorless Eldrazi builds as it lets you play a much wider range of cards and while it doesn’t let you interact a ton it lets you interact enough that you can commit the permanents you need to end games!
