Todays Featured Commander Is:
Agatha’s Champion is a really sweet mono-green commander who really loves fighting! Because of this our deck is very much themed around fighting! This is a great way for us to control the board and stop our opponents from establishing a great board state. We are in mono-green so it is not easy for us to draw a ton of cards but we do have a few ways to do that! Being in Mono-Green we can take advantage of all of the ramp spells and cast some of our biggest permanents sometimes like 3-4 turns early! Without further adieu lets get it!

Why Agatha’s Champion?
Agatha’s Champion is really a small part of our deck but can be meaningful when it enters and we can fight an annoying creature that our opponent has. Agatha’s Champion bargain ability is pretty much something we almost always want to do but if we cant, or dont want to a 5 mana 4/4 is not bad stats at all for our deck, while we dont have a ton of benefits for sacrificing being able to directly take out an opponents creature or commander is almost always worth the sacrifice for the bargain ability! While we dont have a ton of targets for the bargain ability I found it is something we can do pretty often, we dont always need to cast Agatha’s Champion to have a good game!
Deck Overview:
This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck!
Creatures:
We have a ton of mana ramp from our creatures like Sakura-Tribe Elder, Elvish Mystic and Llanowar Elves just to name a few! We do have a lot of creature ramp and it is one of the primary ways that we cast our huge creatures! Some of our best game-ending huge creatures include Ulamog's Crusher, Eldrazi Devastator and Brambleweft Behemoth. Two of my favorite creatures in the deck are Annoyed Altisaur and Maelstrom Colossus both of these creatures are my favorite since they can cascade whether we hit a fight spell or any creature these cards are great and we will never say no to free stuff!
Instants:
Since we are a big mana deck we can easily flashback Moment's Peace and protect us! One of our best fight cards is Unnatural Aggression is great since we can exile the creature that we killed perfect if we play against a combo deck, which truthfully is not that common in pauper but exile is better than sending to the graveyard. Other than that we pretty much have a redundant fight effect like Ram Through, Bite Down and Prizefight!
Sorceries:
We have a large ramp package including in Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Search for Tomorrow and Nature's Lore are our main spell based ramp spells, not too much to say about these just great ways to get more mana! Ent's Fury and Outmuscle are both really great cards that allows us to buff and fight which is an absolute winning combination! We also have some basic fight cards that just straight up fight like Aggressive Instinct. You Meet in a Tavern is a great way to either cycle through the deck or buff our creatures! Lead the Stampede is also a really great way to cycle through deck!
Artifacts:
Bonder's Ornament is a great artifact since we can get some extra mana and ramp a little more and we can get some cards out of the deal, since this is a very common card in pauper we can often draw two-three cards off of this which is perfect since we are a mono-green deck. Moss Diamond is a great piece of mana ramp as well that can come down pretty early. Galadhrim Bow is a great card that allows us to give reach to a creature, we typically are not great against flying creatures. Wedding Invitation and Whispersilk Cloak are both guaranteed ways to hit with our huge creatures and in the case of Wedding Invitation is great since we can draw a card!
Enchantments:
One of the best and as a bonus on theme enchantments in our deck is Warbriar Blessing which is a great card to put on one of our big creature that not only makes it better at blocking, but we get to fight a creature which is perfect! Lignify is a great removal spell that is perfect for removing pesky creatures or commanders! Tales of Master Seshiro // Seshiro's Living Legacy is a great card that lets us buff up a creature which is perfect for when we want to fight and get a big 5/5 with Vigilance and Haste out of the deal! Khalni Heart Expedition is a great piece of ramp that we can activate pretty quickly!
Land Base:
Our land base is actually pretty simple and is almost all forests but we do have some lands that are pretty much card draws like the cycling lands like Slippery Karst and Tranquil Thicket both of which are great ways to get some extra cards. The Hunter Maze and Desert of the Indomitable are also some great ways to turn our excess mana into cards!
Strengths of the Deck:
- Easy to win combat
- Fighting allows us to control opponents boards
- Huge ramp package
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Not a ton of ways to draw cards
- Weak to creature hate
- There is a lot but if we dont hit ramp spells deck is much slower
Deck Stats:
Sample Hands:
Main Win Conditions:
Our main win condition is good old fashioned combat, in addition to our ability to fight an absolute ton of creatures, we are able to control the state of our opponents boards and make combat even easier! Combat is made even easier by the fact that we have ways to give our creatures trample and a lot of our creatures just naturally have trample! There are no infinite combos or loops in the deck!
Conclusion:
In conclusion Agatha’s champion is a really fun mono-green deck! Since we focus on fighting we can easily control the board and make combat really easy for us! We have a surprising amount of ways to interact with our opponents creatures, combine this with an extra large ramp package and we can cast huge game-ending creatures pretty easy and swing for the fences!
