Today’s Featured Commander Is:
While Blight Pile has a lot of the elements of a typical mono-black deck the emphasis on defenders makes it a little bit different and a lot more fun! While the emphasis on Defenders is different it makes this deck very unique! It is very easy to deal a ton of damage with Blight Pile and close out games with relative ease! Another big benefit of the defender package is that we are pretty good in combat, we are not great against flyers but are very strong against ground creatures and overall aggressive strategies! Without further ado, let’s get it!

Why Blight Pile?
The main reason that we chose Blight Pile is they are a perfect commander for a deck full to the brim of defenders! They are our main damage source and it can get really wicked when we add lifegain with cards like Vampiric Link
and Phyresis

Deck Overview:
This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck!
Creatures:
Most of our creature package as you would expect consists of a bunch of defenders that are really cool like Gibbering Barricade

Instants:
One of the weirdest and most interesting cards in our deck is Glyph of Doom

Cast Down

Sorceries:
Blood Tithe

Artifacts:
Since we are in mono-black we don’t draw a ton of cards but cards like Metalspinner's Puzzleknot

Enchantments:
Since our commander is a big focus of our deck they naturally receive the brunt of our opponents interaction and creature hate, because of that we can utilize cards like Kaya's Ghostform

Land Base:
Our land base is pretty simple since we are in mono-black but as always when I build pauper decks I have included the cycling lands like Barren Moor

Strengths of the Deck:
- Our damage / main win condition affects each of our opponents
- Decent interaction package
- Great at blocking and strong against aggressive strategies
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Deck is weak without Blight Pile
- Weak to creature hate
- Not a ton of ways to draw cards
Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:
Our main win condition is activating Blight Piles ability and dealing damage to our opponents, this is typically the main we win especially when combined with cards like Phyresis

Conclusion:
In conclusion Blight Pile is the super fun commander of a very interesting take on the mono-black archetype! While defenders aren’t typically that powerful and we are overall not very offensive Blight Pile allows us to do a ton of damage to our opponents and end games pretty quickly! Hope you enjoyed this article, don’t forget you can always request a commander or deck idea on our twitter or our discord! Thanks for reading to the end!
