5 Helpful Upgrades:

These are in no particular order but are 5 upgrades I would recommend getting to make the deck stronger, there is absolutely nothing wrong in the deck in its current form but these 5 cards will help make it smoother and faster!

Why Aragorn, The Uniter?

The main reason we chose Aragorn is how much they do, being able to create a token, scry, direct damage an opponent or buff a creature is a super powerful ability that we can abuse and get multiple times in a turn! We can snowball really quickly once we get Aragorn and some extra mana out! Aragorn is a just a powerhouse.

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! As well as highlighting some of my favorite cards in the deck!

Creatures:

Legends, Legends, Legends so many of our creatures have a story to tell! We do have some non-legend early game mana ramp like Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise and Faeburrow Elder! While we only have 20 creatures all of them hit super hard and have huge effects and we can supplement them with Aragorn’s abilities. Adeline, Resplendent Cathar is a really strong card that allows us to make a ton of creatures and attack with a huge creature! Elrond, Master of Healing allows us to buff up our creatures everytime we scry which can actually happen decently often! Hajar, Loyal Bodyguard is a great card that can be used offensively and defensively! Jetmir, Nexus of Revels is a damage powerhouse especially when we get a bunch of Aragorn tokens! Rienne, Angel of Rebirth is a great way to protect nearly all of our creatures and give us a buff as well.

Instants:

You Cannot Pass! is a card that is pretty much online, Arcane Denial and Counterspell are great ways to stop our opponents problematic combos or spells. Growth Spiral is a great draw spell, triggers Aragorn and lets us play an extra land drop. Cards that provide value and trigger Aragorn are awesome like Boros Charm, Brokers Charm and Jeskai Charm which all have effective abilities and let us trigger Aragorn multiple times.

Sorceries:

We are a 4 color deck so mana ramp like Farseek, Cultivate and Skyshroud Claim which are all great ways to get our colors! Time Wipe is a great way to protect Aragorn when our opponents boards get too out of hand. Urza's Ruinous Blast is essentially a board wipe only for our opponents since it only hits a few cards in our deck! Call for Aid is a really sweet politics card that we can use to gain leverage and pit our opponents against each other.

Artifacts:

We of course have some mana fixing like Chromatic Lantern which is a super strong way to always have our colors, but we also have sweet rocks like Sol Ring and Arcane Signet. We also have some more aggressive artifacts like Heroes' Podium and Door of Destinies which are both strong ways to get our creatures to be huge! Skullclamp is a really strong draw outlet especially when used on the tokens that Aragorn creates.

Enchantments:

My favorite enchantment in our deck is Mana Cannons which is a great way to hit an opponent or take out a pesky creature while this spell usually does max 3-4 damage it is a great way to deal some damage. Rising of the Day is another really strong card that buffs basically our entire deck and gives them haste! Virtue of Knowledge // Vantress Visions is a cool card that doubles our Aragorn triggers and lets us copy a trigger of something else if needed. War of the Last Alliance is a great tutor for legends and a great way to have huge swing when the saga goes away.

Land Base:

Our land base of course has benefits for the huge amounts of legends we run like The Shire, Rivendell and Mines of Moria which are all mono-color lands but enter untapped and are quick and easy mana outlets with extra abilities. Lands like Pillar of the Paruns, Plaza of Heroes are also great cards that work for our legends. Besides that our land base mostly consists of duals in every color combination that does not include black but we do have some basics as well. In testing I found that 37 lands was the perfect combination.

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Easy to snowball into a huge board
  • Aragorn allows us to do something extra and beneficial each turn
  • Decent interaction / counter package

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Weak to creature hate
  • Budget made us cut mana fixing like Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth
  • Deck is weaker without Aragorn on the field

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

There are no infinite combos or loops in the deck, we are a straight up legends deck who can use Aragorn’s passive abilities when we cast spells to gain advantage and whittle our opponents down through combat damage! We are a very simple deck and just want to hit our land drops and close out the game through combat no fancy stuff here!

Conclusion:

In conclusion Aragorn is a super sweet 4 color commander who is an absolute powerhouse, even in his budget form he is super strong and a ton of fun to play this deck is perfect for anyone who loves legends and loves turning cards sideways! Hope you enjoyed this article and thank you so much for all of the support recently! Thanks for reading to the end!
