Welcome to another installment of Brewed CEDH!
Please note that since this is CEDH no budget considerations have been made!
Todays Featured Commanders Are:
Cazur and Ukkima are a great BUG commander for CEDH, well more like Ukkima is good Cazur gives us green which is nice but in my testing I never really used his ability very much. Ukkima is nothing more to us than an outlet to win the game once we assemble the food chain! You will like this deck if you like combos and basically playing the game by yourself, since this is cedh this is not uncommon. We are in every single way a combo deck with every other card being a vehicle to get to our combo. We can have early turn wins but it is not as consistent with food chain since we need a decent amount of mana to win.
The Deck:
Cazur Ukkima Food Chain!
Why Cazur and Ukkima?
Ukkima’s ability gives us an outlet if we win via the food chain route and Cazur is just there for green! In all reality we are playing Ukkima solely for the his ability to combo with food chain and Cazur partners with him and puts us nicely in BUG. BUG is a great color combo for CEDH since we can play pretty much all of the formats best cards! The First Sliver version of food chain being 5 color does give a little more flexibility so that is one of the downsides of this version
Deck Overview:
Since we are a Food chain deck our main goal and all of our cards in the deck are to grab are food chain combo and win the game! To do that we are of course packing a ton of tutors such as Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor and Diabolic Intent. These are our general tutors but we do have Worldly Tutor to grab either Misthollow Griffin, Eternal Scourge
Strengths of the Deck:
- Early combo potential
- Multiple Combos in case one gets stopped
- Our Food chain targets can still be cast if exiled
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Not as fast as other TurboNaus or TurboStorm decks
- Very difficult to turn 1 some games you just lose if opponents have turn 1
- Need a lot of mana to combo off with Food Chain
Deck Stats:
Sample Hands:
Main win conditions:
Food Chain
Result: Infinite colored mana that can only be spent to cast creature spells. Infinite ETB. Infinite LTB. Infinite storm count. Requires: All permanents on the battlefield. Steps: Activate Food Chain by exiling Misthollow Griffin, adding 2UU that can only be spent to cast creature spells. Cast Misthollow Griffin from exile by paying 2UU. Repeat. Combine this with Ukimma and you can kill your opponents by infinitely casting Ukimma!
Food Chain
Result: Infinite colored mana that can only be spent to cast creature spells. Infinite storm count. Infinite ETB. Infinite LTB. Requires: All permanents on the battlefield. Steps: Activate Food Chain by exiling Eternal Scourge, adding four mana of any one color that can only be spent to cast creature spells. Cast Eternal Scourge from exile by paying 3. Repeat. Combine this with Ukimma and you can kill your opponents by infinitely casting Ukimma!
Thassa's Oracle
Result: Win the game. Exile your library. Requires: All cards in hand. UUB available. Steps: Cast Demonic Consultation by paying B, naming Thassa’s Oracle and thus exiling your library due to you not having a card named Thassa’s Oracle in your library. Cast Thassa’s Oracle by paying UU. Thassa’s Oracle enters the battlefield, causing you to win the game.
Conclusion:
In conclusion I think that Cazur Ukkima is a fun CEDH combo deck and great for fans of the format it is a little different compared to most CEDH decks although many of the same elements are still present. The biggest downside of the deck is that you cannot hide when you sit down with Cazur / Ukkima people are going to assume you are on food chain as that is the main way these commanders see play in CEDH.
Thanks for reading the end!
