Jasmine Boreal of the Seven Vanilla Creatures Pauper EDH

“The Fallen Leaves Tell A Story”

Art:Jasmine Boreal of the Seven by Bastien L. Deharme

Jasmine is a really sweet Selesyna commander who loves creatures with no abilities, while vanilla creatures are typically not very strong, since Jasmine makes them unblockable and a lot of them are nothing but a pile of stats we can easily kill our opponents with our pseudo-unblockable creatures. Jasmine is a great general for a pretty weird deck that has pretty much no abilities on any of our creatures. Winning the game through our sheer power and toughness is really fun! Without further Adieu Lets Get It!

Why Jasmine Boreal of the Seven?

The main reason we chose Jasmine is that she is one of the few creatures that cares about vanilla creatures and she also can put two mana towards them. Jasmine combined with the other ramp in our deck allows us to play some very big stat-ed creatures and start swinging with our pseudo-unblockable creatures! Jasmine is a great general of a really fun Selesyna deck, even though are creatures dont have abilities they are still evasive piles of stats that allow us to be a solid midrange deck with big combat potential!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck!

Creatures:

Most of our creatures are vanilla nothing but piles of stats, the creatures that we do have that have abilities are mostly mana dorks including Elvish Mystic, Llanowar Elves and Avacyn's Pilgrim We do have a few more but these are the main ones.

Since we only have vanilla creatures for the most part, they typically fall into two piles, early game and late game creatures. For our early game creatures we presume they wont be able to be blocked so they favor the power with creatures like Blade of the Sixth Pride and Cliffhaven Sell-Sword.

For our late game creatures we have huge creatures like Ancient Brontodon, Scaled Wurm and Vorstclaw who are some of the biggest creatures that we have in the deck. Since Jasmine makes it so we can only be blocked by other vanilla creatures we can often get a ton of damage in and end games quickly!

Instants:

Since we have mostly vanilla creatures and we want to always attack we need to protect ourselves when we are all tapped out, so we have Fog and Dawn Charm as well as Safe Passage which are all great ways to protect us. Prizefight is a great card to basically direct damage an opponents creature since we have pretty large creatures overall!

We also have a little bit of interaction with cards like Return to Nature and Generous Gift. One of my favorite instants is Wrap in Vigor and Your Temple Is Under Attack since we can have our board survive in the face of a board wipe!

Sorceries:

Our sorcery package is where most of our mana ramp lives with cards like Cultivate. Kodama's Reach and Farseek just to name a few. Since we are a stompy style deck we of course want to ramp as much as possible and there are 5+ ramp spells in the deck! Breath of Life is a really cool card that allows us to reanimate a creature from the graveyard. Its our only affect like this but can be great to get back a huge creature who may die to removal!

Artifacts:

Most of our artifact package is mana rocks with cards like Moss Diamond and Marble Diamond and a few others. Beyond our ramp we have a few equipments like Haunted Cloak and Whispersilk Cloak which we typically equip on to one of our bigger creatures and start swinging, these can help us get through if they have vanilla creatures as well.

Enchantments:

Armadillo Cloak is a great enchantment that we absolutely had to run since we are in Selesyna, but a buff on one of our bigger creatures and gaining some life is something we will never complain about. Our other two enchantments are Abundant Growth and Wild Growth which are both great ways to ramp and in the case of Abundant Growth draw a card!

Land Base:

Besides Selesyna Duals we are playing every cycling land within our colors just incase of flooding or if we need to get some more cards! Not too much to say about our land base, mostly basics with a few cycling lands and some Selesyna duals! We are a simple deck that complicated nonbasics or a complicated landbase is something we do not need!

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Easy to kill opponents with our pseudo-unblockable creatures
  • A ton of ramp allows us to cast big creatures early
  • Decent amount of interaction

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Weak to creature hate
  • Weak to spellslinger decks
  • Deck is worse without commander out

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

No infinite combos or loops in our deck, All we have is our combat which is headed up by the pseudo-unblockable ability given to us by Jasmine. This deck is as nuts and bolts or just straight up combat as it comes!

Conclusion:

In conclusion Jasmine is a really fun pauper edh deck who brings new elements and cards most have not played with before to the table! This deck is full of mana ramp and huge creatures and is great for any lover of the stompy playstyle! This deck by no means is CPDH but is is a ton of fun! Hope you enjoyed this Pauper EDH article, don’t forget you can request PDH, CEDH, EDH and Budget EDH commanders you would like to see on our twitter or discord. Thanks for reading to the end!
