Todays Featured Commander Is:
Kemba is a really sweet commander who got a downshift in commander masters, so you know we had to brew up a really sweet one for this! Kemba is a really strong PDH commander since so many common equipment are cheap and we can easily overwhelm the board with tokens and swing for the fences. Kemba is a super sweet value engine that gets the benefit every turn and we don’t even need to attack, Khemba is the real deal and is an absolute house of a commander! Without further adieu lets get it!
The Deck:
Kemba, Kha Regent Equipment!
Why Kemba, Kha Regent?
The main reason that we chose Kemba is how good they are at making creatures, combine this with our super cheap equipment and we can generate an absolute crazy amount of creatures every turn. Combine this with the fact that we are constantly buffing and making Kemba more evasive and we have ways to win through commander damage and through straight up combat damage.
Deck Overview:
This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck!
Creatures:
We have quite a few one mana creatures like Thraben Inspector which can be a great way to draw a card and get an early blocker. Benevolent Bodyguard is a great way to protect Kemba from single target removal. Cliffside Lookout is another great card that in the late-game can provide a great anthem effect for us. Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant are great ways to get some lifegain payoff for all of the creatures that we have!
Instants:
Kemba is the most important part of our deck so of course we have cards to protect it like Blacksmith's Skill, Loran's Escape, Stave Off and Dawn Charm all of these are great ways to protect Kemba and keep him around for as long as possible! We also have some ways to remove opponents problematic permanents like Crib Swap and Generous Gift these are both nothing more than great ways to single-target removal a creature or permanent an opponent has.
Sorceries:
Our sorcery package is honestly pretty small but has a big effect! Ritual of Restoration is a great way to get one of our key equipment’s or mana rocks back! Marshaling Cry is another great anthem effect that we can cycle if we don’t need it and cast it again with flashback, this card is the real deal! Settle Beyond Reality is a great way to bounce one of our ETB creatures and remove an opponents creatures!
Artifacts:
Kemba loves equipment’s and we do too! So of course we have some really sweet 0 mana equipment like Accorder's Shield, Bone Saw, Cathar's Shield and Spidersilk Net are all great cheap equipment that do not offer a ton in the offensive department but allow us to get those cats super easy!
We also have a lot of great offensive equipment like Short Sword, Bonesplitter, Golem-Skin Gauntlets and Kor Halberd just to name a few. Offensive equipment is a great way to begin the commander damage kill plan which is a secondary plan but still pretty important!
Enchantments:
We have an offensive and defensive side to our enchantment package for our offensive side we have a really sweet card in All That Glitters which allows us to do an absolute ton of damage to our opponents and makes Kemba pretty much unkillable! Benevolent Blessing is a great way to protect Kemba from a specific color, great against mono-color decks but never bad!
Journey to Nowhere is another great way to remove an opponents problematic creature and take them away! Righteous Aura is a great way to stop a really big attacker or a really big X or burn spell!
Land Base:
Our land base is pretty simple but we do have some sweet cards, in case of flood and due to our relatively low mana cost we can use Secluded Steppe and Drifting Meadow are both great ways to reduce flood and turn a land draw into another card draw. Idyllic Grange and Sandstone Bridge are both great ways to put a little buff on the creature, other than that not too many lands to write home about!
Strengths of the Deck:
- Easy to overwhelm the board with our tokens
- Don’t even need to to attack with Kemba if you don’t want to
- Equipment’s are cheap allowing us to play multiple a turn in later turns
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Weak to artifact hate
- Weak to creature hate
- Deck does not work without Khemba
Deck Stats:
Sample Hands:
Main Win Conditions:
Our main win condition is Kemba’s commander damage from all of the artifact buffs or attacking with all of the creatures we make, either we way win is solely combat focused no combos here!
Conclusion:
In conclusion the downshift of Kemba is great for the Pauper EDH format and just makes the format even stronger and cooler. I really hope to see more sweet downshifts in the future so we can keep brewing. This deck is perfect for really any combat or equipment lover. Hope you enjoyed this article don’t forget you can always request a deck in our twitter or discord.
