Lazotep Chancellor is an absolute Dimir Menace who loves commanding around a huge zombie army and swinging right at our opponents! Lazotep Chancellor allows us to make a zombie army and buff them up like crazy, this deck has a bunch of cycling / discard outlets which allow us to make our creature even bigger, on top of that we get the draw / benefits of cycling and discarding! This deck is the real deal and a great deck to bring to your next PDH game! Without further adieu lets get it!

Why Lazotep Chancellor?
Lazotep Chancellor is absolutely a build-around commander who shaped the entire way that we built the deck! This deck is focused on getting Lazotep out as early as possible and then cycling and discarding like a madman to get a huge zombie army and swing for the fences! Lazotep Chancellor can get really crazy since we can buff a creature at instant speed and even in combat!
Deck Overview:
This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! As well as highlighting some of my favorite cards in the deck!
Creatures:
We discard and cycle an absolute ton so we have a couple creatures that we can continuously recur like Sanitarium Skeleton
and Clay Revenant
which are great cards to continuously discard and recur! We have a bunch of cheap cyclers like Street Wraith
and Horror of the Broken Lands
which are both super cheap and easy cards to cycle and there is nothing wrong with hard-casting either! Urborg Syphon-Mage
is a great way to damage all of our opponents for something that we are doing pretty much every turn! Waterfront Bouncer
is a great way to bounce key and expensive creatures to our opponents hands, oh and we get to discard and trigger Lazotep as well! A card that is along the same lines is Balloon Peddler
which is a great way to give our army flying, which hey an army is already strong, but it gets better when you get airborne!
Instants:
Arcane Denial
and Counterspell
are two strong counterspells that are great cards to use against removal targeting our army or really any problematic thing our opponent is trying to do! Supernatural Stamina
and Undying Malice
are both great ways to regenerate Lazotep if they are killed be a removal spell / damage of some kind, these are really great on any key creature as well! We of course have instant speed removal like Cast Down
and Go for the Throat
which are great ways to deal with problematic creatures from our opponents. Snuff Out
is another strong removal spell that is nearly always free!
Sorceries:
Essence Harvest
is a crazy powerful card once we get a big army and can even be a strong way to end the game! Lórien Revealed
is not only a strong way to draw cards but also we will never say no to a one mana way to not only get a land but get an amass trigger as well! Bone Shards
is the perfect card for the deck since we can discard trigger Lazotep and destroy a creature all for one mana, this card is absolutely busted in this deck! We of course have some other removal like Murderous Compulsion
which is already strong but only gets stronger once we discard it! Ponder
and Preordain
are both strong draw spells which are perfect ways to refill our hand!
Artifacts:
Wedding Invitation
is a key artifact in our deck since we can make our army unblockable and get a card all for only 2 mana, just an absolute house and a card that I feel isn’t played as much as it should be in PDH! We are a 2 color deck so we need some mana rocks, not too much to say here besides that we can use our mana rocks effectively since we can us the extra mana to activate Lazoteps ability and grow the army! Haunted Cloak
is another great equipment that makes our army pretty crazy, and who’ s going to say no to trample! Neurok Stealthsuit
is a great card to protect either Lazotep or our zombie army!
Enchantments:
The zombie army that Lazotep creates is a key token / win condition for our deck, because of this we want to protect our army at all costs so we can use cards like Alexi's Cloak
which is a strong way to protect against single-target removal. Soul Channeling
is another really cool card that can help protect Lazotep or another key creature. Dragon Wings
and Aqueous Form
are great ways to make our army more evasive and sometimes can guarantee we get in for damage! Tortured Existence
is an absolute auto-include in this deck since we can recur cycling creatures and trigger more and more!
Land Base:
Since we have Lazotep Chancellor we are able to get much more use out of cycle lands than the average deck since we can either create a token or buff one and we also get a card. Because of this we have jam-packed as many cycling lands as we possibly can in the deck with cards like Barren Moor
and Lonely Sandbar
just to name a couple! Since we are a discarding a lot Mortuary Mire
is a really strong card and a great piece of recursion!
Strengths of the Deck:
- Potential to one-shot opponents
- Lazotep Chancellor can come down really early and begin adding to our board
- Bunch of interaction
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Hand can be empty frequently
- Weak to graveyard hate
- Weak to creature hate

We have no infinite combos or loops in the deck, our primary gameplan is to cast Lazotep Chancellor as soon as possible and get our zombie token going and buff them up! With a bunch of discard and cycling outlets we can easily make a huge creature and also protect our army with cards like Alexi's Cloak and Dragon Wings!
Conclusion:
Lazotep Chancellor is a super fun commander who can be a real big menace at the table! Coming down super early and almost immediately becoming a threat! And let’s be real who doesn’t love swinging to our opponents with a huge zombie army, one that sometimes can fly or be unblockable! Lazotep Chancellor allows us to play a deck with some control elements and some aggressive cycling / discard cards for value in creature production! Thanks for reading to the end!
