Losheel, Clockwork Scholar Artifacts Pauper EDH

“I have nothing but time. Show me something else”

Art:Losheel, Clockwork Scholar by Daniel Zrom

Losheel, Clockwork Scholar is a crazy powerful Pauper EDH commander that shockingly has very few decks out there, I only found 4 on moxfield. This card is powerful and efficient and directly addresses some of the card draw issues that white has, while allowing us to be super aggressive since we can swing pretty much freely on our turn due to Losheel’s ability, Losheel deserves more recognition and I am hopefully going to go him some well-deserved love! Without further adieu lets get it!

Why Losheel, Clockwork Scholar?

Losheel directly addresses one of whites biggest problem in Pauper EDH and that is card draw, being able to draw an extra card pretty much every turn that Losheel out helps us a ton with staying relevant and competive in the mid-late game. Not to mention that Losheel’s second ability allows us to freely swing and be super aggressive with our attacks!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! As well as highlighting some of my favorite cards in the deck!

Creatures:

We have some pretty sweet early game creatures like Arcbound Mouser, Court Homunculus and Gold Myr. The early game we typically want to focus on establishing a board of artifact creatures for when we cast Losheel. Since we are a mono-colored deck cards like Henge Walker is a great card that is pretty much always a 3/3 for 3! Foundry Inspector is a key creature that reduces every creature in our deck. Frogmite, Myr Enforcer and Razor Golem are all strong affinity creatures that can come down super early. We of course have a late game which is headlined by Maelstrom Colossus and Sojourner's Companion. We dont have a ton of huge creatures since we typically use buffs and strengths in numbers to overwhelm our opponents!

Instants:

Losheel does a lot for our deck so he is naturally a magnet for a lot of our opponents removal so we had to include Shelter and Stave Off and Your Temple Is Under Attack which are all great ways to protect Losheel or one of our other high value permanents! If we swing out hard and are left open we can use cards like Holy Day and Riot Control to protect ourselves. We also have some removal like Crib Swap, Generous Gift which are both effective removal spells.

Sorceries:

The name of our game here is buffs! This is also the main way that we close out games with sweet cards like Righteous Charge and Inspiring Roar and Silverflame Ritual which are all effective ways to make our board bigger and hit even harder! Recommission and Remember the Fallen are both strong pieces of graveyard recursion that can be helpful if key permanents fall victim to single target removal!

Artifacts:

We of course have some mana rocks like Arcane Signet, Mind Stone and Pristine Talisman. Greatsword of Tyr which is a great way to buff a creature and take a creature out of combat for our opponents which is a great way to get more damage in. Rusted Relic is a especially good card in our deck since it is pretty much always online and can be very strong in the early game!

Enchantments:

The best enchantment is All That Glitters is a card that can get out of hand really quickly since we have so many artifacts in the deck. Other than that are artifact package is focused nearly entirely on removal with sweet cards like Oblivion Ring and Journey to Nowhere!

Land Base:

Since we can draw a ton of cards off of Losheel we do have a slightly less emphasis on drawing cards through our lands but we still are rocking The Fair Basilica and Secluded Steppe as well as Drifting Meadow. We also have Idyllic Grange which is a great way to get a minor buff on a creature. We also had to include Ancient Den but that is more of a flavor win then a functional one, albeit it comes in untapped so it works for us!

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Easy consistent way to draw cards
  • Losheel makes all combats really easy
  • a ton of ways to mass buff for big swing

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Weak to creature hate
  • Weak to artifact hate
  • Weak to control strategies

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

We have no infinite combos or loops in the deck, we are a good old fashioned combat deck who loves buffing our creatures up and turning them sideways. We have an absolute ton of ways to mass buff our creatures whether it is a static buff or buff until end of turn it is still an effective way to take opponents out of the game.

Conclusion:

In conclusion Losheel is a super sweet commander that not only allows us to draw cards consistently but we can protect all of our creatures in combat making all of our combats no fear swings which allows us to be super aggressive! Hope you enjoyed this article, thank you for all of the support lately! Thanks for reading to the end!
