Big shoutout to DracV_Pauper Dude@pauper_b on Twitter for the suggestion! Check out their account as well as The PDH Pod! There content helped TNT get into Pauper EDH so huge shoutout to them!

Oji, The Exquisite Blade is a really cool commander who loves to blink not only does she love to blink, but she is a strong target for a blink spell as well! Our deck focuses on generating value from our ETB’s and repeating those value engines a ton! We have a bunch of cards that love leaving and entering the battlefield, whether we use them offensively for a big ETB or defensively to remove an opponents pumped-up creature this deck is a ton of fun to pilot! Without further adieu lets get it!

Why Oji, The Exquisite Blade?

Oji, is really a two-fold win for this deck not only can we blink her as her ETB generates a decent amount of value but when we cast our second spell for the turn which truthfully happens quite often we can blink again! Oji, is a great creature with decent stats but shines in the ability department allowing us to go along with the gameplan and enhance it greatly!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! As well as highlighting some of my favorite cards in the deck!

Creatures:

We have some creatures that blink stuff too! like Aethersnipe,Deputy of Acquittals and Indoctrination Attendant which are all really strong additional ways to blink! We also have a ton of cards that benefit from blinking like Clockwork Fox and Flaming Fist Officer which are both really strong cards that care about blinking! We also have Eagles of the North and Dawnfeather Eagle which when blinked a couple times can easily help us end the game! Sensor Splicer is a really strong creature producer that only gets crazier once we blink it a few times! My favorite creature in the deck is Stonehorn Dignitary which allows us to force our opponents to skip thier next combat step, this card is our best defense against aggressive strategies and with a few blinks we can force all of our opponents to skip their next combat step!

Instants:

We have way too many blink spells to talk about them all, so I will highlight some of my favorites from a bunch of games with the deck! Cloudshift and Ephemerate are both super strong and really cheap blink spells! Blur is a little bit more of an expensive blink spell but we are able to get a piece of card draw out of it! Turn to Mist is a little bit of a long-term blink spell which makes it stronger to use on our opponents, while we can absolutely blink our own creature I typically saved it for an opponents commander or other problematic creature!

We also have a bunch of counterspells like Arcane Denial and Counterspell and Dispel which are all strong ways to counter any of the problematic things are opponents are attempting to resolve! Prismatic Strands is a really strong “fog” effect that we can easily flashback! Echoing Truth is a really cool card that allows us to absolutely destroy a token strategy!

Sorceries:

Our sorcery package is where most of our draw resides with sweet cards like Ponder, Preordain and Lórien Revealed all of which are very strong draw spells and are cheap enough that we can easily trigger Oji’s second ability! Settle Beyond Reality is an expensive blink spell but since we can exile an opponents creature and blink one of our own this card is a real win-win!

Artifacts:

Our artifact package only has mana rocks, which are great supporting pieces that allow us to cast Oji or any other key permanents early. The rocks we have are Sky Diamond, Marble Diamond, Arcane Signet and Azorius Signet not a ton to say here just cheap efficient rocks that can be a mana boost or provide a nice piece of fixing!

Enchantments:

Candlekeep Sage is a card that is pretty much an auto-include in an Oji deck since it allows us to get an extra card draw out of our blinks, Oji becomes really crazy when on ETB its gain 2 life, scry 2 and draw a card! The rest of our enchantment package is full of strong removal like Witness Protection and Oblivion Ring which are both perfect for opponents commanders!

Land Base:

We have extra card draw in the form of The Surgical Bay and The Fair Basilica, as well as cycling lands like Lonely Sandbar and Drifting Meadow which can be a great help in the early game if we need cards or in the late-game when we do not need any additional mana. Besides that nothing much to note we of course have classics like Command Tower but besides that it is a pretty simple landbase filled with ways to produce Azorius colors!

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Can use our blinks to not only ETB but as protection from removal as well
  • Oji can come down early and give us extra blinks nearly every turn
  • Ton of ways to draw cards and interact

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Weak to aggressive strategies
  • Takes a few turns for us to get going
  • Weak to super hardcore control strategies

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

We have no infinite combos or loops in the deck but we do have a bunch of value creatures that are not only strong on their own but can be very strong when we can blink them a few times, cards like Eagles of the North which can help end the game if we have a big board! We have a few other cards that have beneficial ETB’s that when we blink them multiple times can be strong ways to help end the game!

Conclusion:

In conclusion Oji is a really fun commander who is a ton of fun to play, not only do you get a really fun blink package but you also get a strong control package as a secondary piece of the deck, this deck is a ton of fun and just a really great time. I had so much fun with this in testing! Thanks for reading to the end and thank you for the support!
