Palladium Myr Tron Pauper EDH

“A mechanized heart never misses a beat, and never falters with emotion.”

Art:Palladium Myr by Alan Pollack

Palladium Myr is everyone’s favorite Sol Ring on a creature and for this deck and Pauper EDH this is our premier tron commander. We are able to cast a bunch of our smaller and bigger creatures pretty early due to our artifact ramp and get to swinging. While there are some drawbacks to being fully colorless this deck is still a ton of fun to play. Without Further Adieu Lets Get It!

Why Palladium Myr?

The main reason we chose Palladium Myr is they are a great piece of artifact ramp and are basically a Sol Ring in the command zone, while we do have a lot of equipment in the deck we rarely attack with the Myr mostly opting to tap them for mana and casting more creatures / artifacts! Palladium Myr is one of the earliest and best forms of mana ramp and allows us to start casting bigger and bigger colorless spells!

Deck Overview:

This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck!

Creatures:

We have a bunch of early creatures that can help like Arcbound Worker, Alpha Myr and Arcbound Stinger. All of these are just small guys who can come down early and work wonders against aggressive strategies, especially the ones with Modular.

We also have some creatures that can help with mana ramp like Manakin which is just a small rock but still helps. Alloy Myr is just another simple mana creature that we can get down pretty early. While not directly a rock Foundry Inspector hits nearly every card in our deck and is just a blanket discount for us. Tower Worker is another mana creature with upside.

To round out our deck we have some big mana creatures that can help a ton with ending games. Cards like Ulamog's Crusher, Marut and Hand of Emrakul are all big creatures that we can cast pretty early and start swinging! One of the coolest big creatures in our deck is Myr Enforcer who we can easily cast for free on the early turns. Ruin Processor is another card that we can cast early and can be a real bear to deal with!

Instants:

Well we are a colorless, so we only have one instant, but it is a good one! Scour from Existence is a great way to exile a problematic permanent an opponent controls, be careful there this is pretty much it! Use this one spell wisely!

Sorceries:

Just the same as the instant package there is not a lot here but we do have Introduction to Annihilation which is another great way to exile an opponents permanent and due to our artifact ramp we can easily cast this and giving them the card really doesn’t matter to us.

Our final sorcery is Expanded Anatomy is another great card that allows us to buff a creature and give us vigilance great for one of our big attackers!

Artifacts:

Our artifact package is pretty much just as big as our creature package and we have some sweet artifacts. To start off we have our artifact ramp which includes Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone, Sisay's Ring and Ur-Golem's Eye all of these are great ways to ramp more and cast some big creatures!

We also have a lot of miscellaneous artifacts that are just cool, two of my favorites are Campfire which can be a great way to get Palladium Myr back after he dies a few times. Wedding Invitation is my favorite artifact in pauper and it absolutely is great in this deck! Since we ramp so much cards like Everflowing Chalice can be a great way for us to make a bunch of colorless mana!

Two vehicles that we have that are also pretty sweet are Aradara Express and Thundersteel Colossus which are just more big creatures that we can easily activate and cast. We also have a bunch of equipment like Haunted Cloak and Jousting Lance which are just a few of our equipment which can help make our big creatures even bigger!

Land Base:

We are a tron deck, so you know we have to have Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Mine and Urza's Tower. Other than that we have a bunch of wastes and some lands that are colorless that can help a ton like Study Hall and Tocasia's Dig Site which are great ways to go through the deck. Overall we have a pretty simple colorless land base but it works very well for our deck. Worth noting that since we artifact ramp a lot we are running a low amount of lands at 32.

Strengths of the Deck:

  • Easy to ramp artifact mana early
  • Deck has a lot of easy to cast / early plays
  • Big creatures coming down early can help us finish out games

Weaknesses of the Deck:

  • Very weak to artifact hate
  • Almost no interaction
  • Weak to long-game / control strategies

Deck Stats:

Sample Hands:

Main Win Conditions:

Our main win condition is combat and ramping out big creatures like Ulamog's Crusher and Marut we can cast these pretty early through our ramp and start swinging for the fences. There are no combos or loops in the deck, we are a creature / combat deck through and through and we need to turn our cards sideways to get the win!

Conclusion:

Palladium Myr is the perfect commander for our Pauper EDH Tron deck, while there is no Karn Liberated or Wurmcoil Engine we still have a bunch of sweet big payoff creatures at common. This deck is a ton of fun to play even though being colorless the strategy and style is a little narrow. This deck is perfectly suited for tables with a lot of creatures, and truthfully will struggle against spell-heavy tables!
