Todays Featured Commander Is:
Sigil Captain is a really sweet creature who we first saw in Alara Reborn all the way back in 2009! While the old captain hasn’t gotten much love since then, the amazing Pauper EDH format has helped to bring him back and better than ever! Buffing our small guys and making tokens is the name of our game and we can use this to subject our opponents to the overwhelming force of our board! Without further adieu lets get it!

Why Sigil Captain?
The main reason we chose Sigil Captain is how well he interacts with tokens and other small creatures! We can cast Sigil Captain reliably 1-2 turns earlier and start getting 3/3’s nearly every turn! Because of our low mana cost and oodles of creatures that are able to trigger Sigil Captain we can easily make a bigger board and overwhelm our opponents!
Deck Overview:
This section contains information about cards in the deck and how they function within the deck! For explanations of the combos please refer to the “Main Win Conditions” section below!
Creatures:
While we do have a ton of 1 drops a lot of them do not do remarkable things and are just cards we can use to trigger Sigil Captain, because of this we will be focusing mostly on toolbox and important cards that make Sigil Captain and the other creatures in our deck better! Spore Frog
Our ramp package is highlighted by cards like Elvish Mystic
Instants:
Most of our interaction relies within our instant package with sweet cards like Nature's Claim
Sorceries:
One part of our sorcery package is full of mana ramp in Cultivate
Artifacts:
Our artifact package is pretty much all mana ramp with Moss Diamond
Enchantments:
Fists of Ironwood
Land Base:
Very typical Selesyna land base for Pauper EDH with the green and white cycling lands like Slippery Karst
Strengths of the Deck:
- Easy to make tokens and small creatures actual threats in combat
- Easy to end games through combats
- Ramp package allows us to cast a bunch of spells a turn
Weaknesses of the Deck:
- Deck is weaker without Sigil Captain
- Not a ton of interaction
- Not a ton of ways to draw cards

Main Win Conditions:
We are in every way a combat deck who focuses on buffing up our 1/1’s and swings for the fencings, with the decent amount of token production we have we can easily overwhelm the board with our decently sized creatures! While we don’t have a ton of combos we do have one! And it makes infinite tokens and with Sigil Captain
Ivy Lane Denizen
Requires:
All permanents on the battlefield. Presence of Gond attached to Barrenton Medic. Barrenton Medic does not have summoning sickness.
Steps:
- Activate Barrenton Medic by tapping it, creating a 1/1 Elf Warrior creature token.
- The Elf Warrior enters the battlefield, triggering Ivy Lane Denizen, putting a +1/+1 counter on Barrenton Medic.
- Activate Barrenton Medic’s second ability by putting a -1/-1 counter on it, untapping it.
- Repeat.
Results:
Infinite creature tokens. Infinite ETB.
Conclusion:
Sigil captain is a really cool commander who really feels like a classic Selesyna commander! Combos and buffs for our small guys is the core of the Selesyna gameplan! This deck is buff heavy and token themed and also a ton of fun to play!
